In early 2020, a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company sought to partner with community organizations to sustain and bolster STEM programs and education in the greater community. The team built a unique partnership with a local non-profit to educate middle and high school students through informative videos exploring STEM concepts related to health care and research.
Following the video series project, Hamara Collective partnered with the company to capture key learnings and determine how to expand STEM-focused community engagement and impact. To guide future efforts, we authored research-based Guidelines for Developing Science Outreach Initiatives for future partnerships. The guidelines provided an overview of each phase of the partnership life cycle and prompted project teams to intentionally design each phase to build shared goals, enhance collaboration, and enable deeper impact. Our team also created a case study to inform and guide other company sites looking to replicate the initiative.
